Finding your personal style isn’t about buying more clothes or chasing trends. It’s about reconnecting with yourself - your preferences, your energy, your comfort, and your confidence. One of the most effective (and surprisingly emotional) ways to do this is through a simple 30-day style activity that blends reflection, experimentation, and intention. Think of it as a month-long conversation with your wardrobe.
This activity isn’t about perfection. It’s about awareness.
Week 1: Observation Without Judgment
For the first seven days, don’t change anything. Wear your clothes as you normally would, but start paying attention. Each day, jot down a few notes:
How did I feel in this outfit?
Did I feel confident, comfortable, invisible, restricted, or empowered?
What piece did I love most — or dislike most?
The goal is not to critique yourself, but to notice patterns. You may realise you reach for the same silhouettes, colours, or fabrics when you want to feel safe - or that certain outfits drain your energy even if they “look good.” Awareness is the foundation of authentic style.
Week 2: Reconnection With What You Love
This week is about rediscovery. Go through your closet and pull out items you genuinely love - not things you feel obligated to wear, but pieces that make you feel like yourself. Try wearing at least one of these items each day.
At the same time, create a small inspiration list. This could include images, memories, or words that resonate with you: cosy, dramatic, playful, grounded, elegant, bold. Personal style is emotional before it’s visual. When you reconnect with what brings you joy, confidence follows naturally.
Week 3: Gentle Experimentation
Now that you know what you love and how you feel, it’s time to play. Experiment without pressure. Pair items in new ways. Wear something slightly outside your comfort zone - a colour you avoid, a bold accessory you’ve never styled, a silhouette you’ve been unsure about.
The rule this week: curiosity over criticism. Some experiments will flop - that’s part of the process. Confidence grows not from getting it “right,” but from trusting yourself enough to try.
Week 4: Refinement and Ritual
In the final week, reflect on the month. What outfits made you feel most confident? What pieces felt like armour? What felt like a costume?
Create a short list of style principles for yourself - not rules, but truths. For example: “I feel best in soft fabrics,” or “Structure makes me feel powerful,” or “Colour lifts my mood.” These become your guide moving forward.
Finally, create a small daily ritual around dressing - even if it’s just taking 30 seconds to ask, How do I want to feel today?
Your wardrobe has the power to support your inner joy - not by changing who you are, but by letting you show up as yourself, fully and unapologetically.
